Martha Harrison

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Martha Harrison, age 76, of Florence, who peacefully transitioned on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Mrs. Martha L. Harrison, daughter of the late Roland Rafus and Bessie Gennan, was born on June 24, 1949, in Florence County. She transitioned from this life on February 3, 2026.

Martha attended the Florence County public schools and was a graduate of Wilson High School. After graduation, she furthered her education at Florence-Darlington Technical College.

In her early years, Martha was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Later in life, she joined and became a devoted member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as a member of the Celestial Choir and the Unified/CO Choir.

Martha was employed with Florence Manufacturing Company, Sara Lee Hosiery, and GE Healthcare, where she retired after many years of dedicated service.

Martha had a heart for helping others. Following her retirement, she spent many days assisting her neighbors by transporting them to doctor's appointments and helping with other needed errands.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Asalee (Marion) Robinson and Lizzie Mae Robinson, and her brothers, Sidney Robinson and Ernest Robinson.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband of 57 years, Luther Earl Harrison; three children, Melissa A. Harrison, Patricia M. Harrison, and Lateasha (Tywan) Damon; seven grandchildren, Malik Eaddy, Mya Harrison, Alexis Harrison, Nasir Damon, Kelsi Harrison, Kayliana Harrison, and Cannelo Damon; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret (Mack) Brunson, Essie Braswell of Newark, NJ, and Della Cherry of Nashville, NC; one brother, Heyward (Ernestine) Gennan of Stroudsburg, PA; two sisters-in-law of Florence, SC, and one sister-in-law of Orangeburg, SC; a special niece, Daisy R. Henry; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved very much.
