Karen Marie Williams, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering faith.

Karen was born in Florence, South Carolina, to the late Margaret Williams (Hyman) and Cleveland Williams Sr. She was raised with strong values that would guide her throughout her life. She attended schools in Florence, South Carolina and graduated from Wilson High School in 1976. She received her bachelors’ degree from Coker College in Legal Studies and received a Master’s Degree in Legal Studies shortly after. Karen pursued a career in the legal profession, where she held various titles and earned the respect of colleagues through her intelligence, dedication, and professionalism.

Later in life, Karen made her home in Hampton, Virginia, where she resided until her passing. Over twenty years ago, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, a decision that reflected her deep faith. She found great joy in sharing the promises of Jehovah with family, friends, and all those she encountered.

Karen was a devoted mother to her two children, Narkavis Dontae (Kisha) Grant and Chandra Lakaye (Kardell) Sawyer, who were the center of her world. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brian, Javien, Laila, Jordyn, and Mia, and a cherished great-grandmother to Brysen. She took immense pride in spending time with her grandchildren, offering guidance, love, and wisdom that will remain with them always.

She is survived by her loving siblings: Cleveland Williams Jr., Gary Williams, Kevin Williams, Glynis Hennegan, and Vivian Williams. She was preceded in death by her brothers Jackie Earl Williams Sr. and Willie Reese Williams. Karen also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Karen touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. She was known for her warmth, her encouraging words, and her ability to uplift others even in difficult times. She

was smart, witty, and funny, with a spirited personality that could be feisty when needed—yet always rooted in love.

Karen Marie Williams was truly a remarkable woman whose presence brought light to so many. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 717 Little Back River Road, Hampton, Va
