Bobby Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge on Mar. 28, 2026.
Mr. Bobby Martel Wiliams, of Jack, Alabama, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1931, to Sterling Walton Williams and Selma Anderson Williams. He grew up in the New Hope community and attended New Hope School. He then served in the Untied States Air Force in 1951 and was stationed in Texas, South Carolina, New York, Oklahoma and Hawaii. In 1955, he came home and married the love of his life, Annie Merle Griswold, to whom he was married 70 years this past December. New Hope Baptist Church was their church home before they married, and they continued to serve the Lord in that congregation. He worked as Bus Driver and Fire fighter at Ft. Rucker and retired after 25 years. He wasn't ready to retire so he worked as a dispatch for Brundidge and Elba Police Departments. He loved playing the guitar and singing at home and church with friends and family. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He also enjoyed riding horses, going to horse shows and rodeos. He loved his family. He and Annie Merle had four children, Steve, Kemmie, Cynthia and Karen. Somewhere during all of this, he became a grandfather and great grandfather, and he excelled in all of these jobs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James W. (Dub) and his sister Agnes.

His survivors include his wife, Annie Merle Williams; sons: Steve Williams (Gale) of Elba, Alabama, Kemmie Williams (Brenda) of Jack, Alabama; daughters: Cynthia Finucane (Shawn) of Panama City, Florida, Karen Smith (Steve) of Charleston, Tennessee; grandchildren: Mandy Sawyer, Stephanie Caldwell, Kelyn Williams, Loren Williams, Matthew Williams, Jason Jones, Jeffrey Jones, Jennifer Taylor, Trey Brunson, Nicholas Jackson, Fox Brunson; 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way.

Funeral services for Mr. Williams will be held Sunday, March 29, 2026 at 3pm at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Lanny Shepherd officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2-3pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
