STONY POINT - Martha Helton Hefner, 56, of 5838 Church Road, Taylorsville, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Catawba County, daughter of Arlee Bolick Helton of Bethlehem and the late Paul Helton. She was a member of Friendship Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for 29 years, and worked in the cafeteria at Wittenburg Elementary School. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Raymond Hefner of the home; a son, Brent Hefner and friend, Heather, of Candler; a daughter, Marcia Schlicwenz and husband, Guy, of Taylorsville; a brother, Eugene Helton and wife, Eva, of Bethlehem; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Friendship Lutheran Church. The Revs. Todd Rauscher and Phil Thorsen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, Saturday evening, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Friendship Lutheran Church, and at other times will assemble at the home. Memorials may be made to Family Life Center, Friendship Lutheran Church, 5300 Church Road, Taylorsville, N.C. 28681. Condolences may be e-mailed to the Hefner family at [email protected]. Chapman Funeral Home is assisting the Hefner family with arrangements.
