Martha Kaye was born in Hertford, NC and moved to Currituck as a child. She graduated from Dr. W.T. Griggs School. Eventually, Martha Kaye and Jack opened and successfully ran Helms Grocery in Jarvisburg, NC for over 20 years. Mary Kaye's claim to fame was her love of family and her cooking. Everyone was welcome in her home and she fed them well.
Martha Kaye is survived by two daughters, Sharon Price (Lee) of Jarvisburg; Jackie Price of Duncan's Creek, NC; one son, Frank Helms and beloved daughter-in-law Brenda-also of Jarvisburg; six grandchildren Megan, Chris, Jack; Josh, Hollie, and Hillary six great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Martha Kaye was the best Mama and Nanny ever!
The memorial service will be held Thursday August 7, 2025 at 11 am at Poplar Branch Baptist Church. Pastor David Wallace will officiate. Please share a message of comfort at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
