Martha Jane Henderson Woolsey

Martha Jane Henderson Woolsey was born in Prescott Arizona, October 28th 1943 to Perry and Ester Henderson. She grew up on the family ranch in Dewey where she lived the life of a typical ranch kid in those days, milking cows, feeding chickens, helping in the garden and many other ranch duties.
She attended school in Humboldt grades 1-8 then on to Prescott High School where she was on the Pom squad. She was very active in FFA and 4H. She still holds the record for consecutive grand champion steer with 3 years in a row.
In 1963 she married Pete Woolsey and started a new chapter in her life. She had many different careers from court stenographer to bookkeeper (Fain Land and Cattle, Savoini Western Wear and Youngs Farm) all while announcing and acting as secretary at jackpot team roping's all around the state of Arizona. She was extremely well liked throughout the team roping community and respected for her accuracy and fairness in the announcers booth.
Martha and her sister (best friend) Helen Cain were Grand Marshalls of the Dewey-Humboldt Agua Fria Parade in 2009 which she was very excited about. She was always proud of her family's roots in Yavapai County.
Martha is survived by her daughter Peri Jo "Skeeter" Woolsey, son Rube Woolsey, daughter-in-law Carrie Woolsey. Grandsons Garret Frank, Rube Anthony Woolsey, and Nolan Woolsey. Sister Helen Cain, nephew Perry Cain(Bonnie) and niece Lori Savage(Randy). Sister-in-law Sally Mills and nephew Hoyt Parker(Jamie).
Martha passed away on October 7th at Mountain View Manor in Prescott, AZ. The family is having a Celebration of Life gathering at the Henderson Ranch Homestead in Dewey (13550 E. State Route 169 Dewey, AZ 86327) on October 24th from 1:00 to 3:00pm
