Martha Jean Huggins

1940 - 2026

Martha Jean (Joyce) Huggins 85, of Pittsfield died Saturday, March 7, 2026 at her home.

She was born in Pittsfield on October 5, 1940 a daughter of the late Paul J. Joyce and Rita (Frawley) Joyce. Martha attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic Central High School.

She was employed at the Berkshire Middle Registry of Deeds for 43 years as a land Court Technical Assistant. Martha was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield.

Martha always looked out for others with a joyful, loving and selfless attitude.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years William Francis Huggins whom she married April 20, 1968, brothers Joseph P. Joyce of Hatfield, PA, Philip F. Joyce (Michael) of Ellenton, FL. and Peter D. Joyce (Wendy) of Ellenton, FL, sister-in-law Pamela Breen (George) of Orange City, FL. adopted daughter Karen Vosburgh, grandchildren Lyndsay and Tyler of Pittsfield MA. Martha also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves behind her "partner in crime" Elaine Costanzo, Pittsfield, MA. Martha is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Judith and John Curtin, brother Rev. James Joyce, sisters-in-law, Patricia Joyce, Patricia Burnell and Phyllis Hulburt. Niece and nephews Amy and Timothy Joyce, Brian Curtin, and Shaun Joyce.

Calling hours at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm St. Pittsfield, will be Monday, March 16, 2026 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Steven Montesanti, pastor as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery.
