Martha Lucille Johnson was born on August 26, 1937, in Bruce, Mississippi, and passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. She lived a full and joyful life, touching countless hearts with her warmth, humor, and love. Martha was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, and her presence brought light and laughter wherever she went.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carroll Wayne Johnson, Sr., as well as her parents, Leslie Earl and Martha Irene (Patterson) Crutchfield.

Martha’s greatest joy was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Carroll Wayne Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Linda Sue, and Russell Alan Johnson and his wife, Deanna; her daughter, Diane Fields and her devoted partner, Dan Folmar. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held an especially special place in her heart, and she delighted in the time she shared with them. Her love lives on through her grandchildren: Aaron Johnson and his wife Veronica, Amanda Paredes, Amber Metcalf, Aleas Ramsey and her husband Josh, Adam Johnson and his wife Holly, Austin Johnson, and Ashlyn Johnson. She was a proud and loving great-grandmother to Bella Paredes, Necole Paredes, Hayden Paredes, Brad Pikey, Jasmyne Jones and her fiance’ Christian, Halee Ramsey, and Jesse Cline and his fiance’ Haley. She was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren, Kolter Young and the soon-to-arrive Emersyn Jo Cline. Martha is also survived by her brother, Elwood Crutchfield, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Martha had a true love for life and for the people around her. She especially enjoyed dancing, often found on the dance floor at country dances like the Cotton Eyed Joe. Music was a constant joy for her—she loved the songs of Loretta Lynn and Marty Robbins and shared her own beautiful voice as a faithful member of her church choir.

Her nurturing spirit was evident in her work at the daycare center for employees of Baptist Medical Center. The children she cared for were never just children in her care; they became like her own, and she loved each of them deeply.

At home, Martha found peace and happiness working in the yard alongside her husband and taking quiet walks along the trails of their land—simple moments that brought her great contentment.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Elite Hospice, especially Tammy and Claire, for the compassion and kindness shown to Martha during her final days.

Martha Lucille Johnson will be remembered for her deep love of family, her gentle and giving heart, her joy for music and dancing, and the many lives she touched. Her legacy of love lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
