Martha Ann Pickett Jones
March 16, 1949- February 11, 2023
Martha Ann Jones passed away on February 11, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 73. She was born on March 16, 1949, in Houston, Texas to Arnold Herd and Mary Bryant Warwick Pickett. Martha was the youngest of four children- Julia Mary, Walter Hyde, Linda Sue whom all were raised in Houston, Texas.
She graduated from Spring Branch High School in Houston, Texas and went on to attend The University of North Texas in Denton.
Martha married William Glenn Davis on November 13, 1973, in Houston, Texas and had three children, Leigh Ann, Debra Jean, and Susan Philetta. She worked as a manager for 7-11 convenience stores. Casa Rios Mexican Restaurant, The LaPoint County Store and was a Girl Scout Leader for many years while spending time with her girls.
She later met and married the love of her life Rodney Marvin Jones on May 22, 1987, in Vernal, Utah. They then moved to LaPoint, Utah where they raised their children and have continued to reside for the last thirty-five years. Martha went on to be a cosmetologist and opened her shop, “The Hair House.” She loved going to the horse races, bowling, bingo, managing football pots, cooking, baking, crocheting, and making crafts to attend the weeklong Uintah Basin Craft Show. Martha loved to travel and would take trips to Wendover and Mesquite with her husband, Rod every chance they had.
Martha was full of life, lots of sass, a fighter, with great love for family and friends and adored her Great Granddaughter and their Facetime calls.
She is survived by her loving husband Rod, daughters Leigh Ann (Brent) Thomas of Artesia, NM, Debra Davis of Casper, Wy and Susan Babcock of Vernal, UT and stepdaughter Natalie (Shane) Lazenby of Grantsville, UT, and grandchildren Quentyn Jenkins, Shaden (Carli) Lazenby, Gracy Hacking, Timberlyn Slaugh, Garrett Thomas, Draydyn Slaugh, Philetta Jolynn (PJ) Babcock, Ryan Thomas, Junior Babcock, Ella Thomas, Madilyn Slaugh, and great granddaughter Emberly Jenkins.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Mary Pickett, sisters Julia Pickett and Linda Neumann, and stepson Gregory Jones.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at 11 AM at the Lapoint Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
A Viewing will be held at the Chapel Wednesday from 9:30-10:45 am prior to the Service.
