Ms. Martha Lee Jordan, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday October 19, 2025. Martha was born on June 19, 1939, in Kelly, North Carolina, to a family grounded in love, faith, and perseverance. She was the daughter of Aaron Henry Murphy and Teruss(Shaw)Murphy. As a young woman, Martha moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she remained for 62 years, creating lasting memories. Martha worked in the restaurant and catering industry, where she shared her passion for preparing food. Later, she worked in a plastic factory for many years.
While living in Brooklyn, Martha was an active and faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she proudly served on the Missionary Board, practicing her faith that sustained her through life's joys and trials. Martha also had a playful side-enjoying lottery scratch-offs, trips to Atlantic City, and playing bingo with her friends.
Martha's resilience and strength helped her to endure the heartbreaking loss of two children, the pain of divorce, and health challenges that led to early disability. Yet through every hardship, she remained determined to be there for her family, which was her greatest source of pride. Later in her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with family during birthdays and holidays, and playing crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp.
During the last six years of her life, Martha lived in Reading, Pennsylvania, where she was surrounded by family and friends who kept her safe and loved.
