Martha Louise Montgomery was called home on Friday, November 8, 2024, amongst family and friends.
Martha was born on January 31st, 1936, in Columbus, Ohio to William and Theola Wilder. After losing her mother at the age of 7, she was raised by her beloved Aunt Pearl. Martha had a sweet, warm, and witty spirit and was adored by many. She was a woman of great faith who shared the love of Christ with everyone she encountered. Even in the face of mourning the deaths of her 3 children and spouse of 70 years, Martha held strong to her faith and never wavered in glorifying The Father. No matter the season of her life, she encouraged everyone else to do the same.
She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, scrabble, playing the piano, laughing, and spending time with family, friends, and her fur child Stuart Little. Like most grandmothers, she had a special gift for her edifying and uplifting others. Her jovial spirit was contagious and made others feel accepted and loved.
While on earth, Martha exemplified grace, unconditional love, generosity, and carried the light of Christ everywhere she went. A tree is known by the fruit it bears. Her legacy of good fruit will live on.
Martha is preceded in death by parents, William and Theola Wilder; siblings, Henderson and William "Big Buddie"; spouse, Norman Montgomery Sr.; children, Norman Jr., Debra, and Brian.
Martha is survived by her children, Robert, Kenneth, Janis, and Candace (Charles); grandchildren, Charla, Craig (Tremendous), Courtney, Casey (Chesna), Christiane (Edward), Kalom (Juanita), and Leah (Brian); 14 great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and dear friends.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;" Philippians NKJV
