Martha Ann Powell was born on January 2, 1938, in Union City, Tennessee to the late Jesse and Nora Moss. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Powell, son Randy Powell, sister Mary Newton, brother Jerry Moss, and aunt Catherine Bushlieter.
Martha was born and raised in West Tennessee. Her faith in God was always put first, and she loved to attend bible studies with friends. She was a faithful member of Faith Church in Gallatin.
She also loved spending time with her family and friends whether it was going out to eat or going shopping with her granddaughters. Martha enjoyed decorating for the holidays and taking trips to the smokey mountains in Gatlinburg.
Martha worked at Baptist Hospital in Nashville for thirty-four years before her retirement. She received the “Caring Hands” award on January 28, 2002. This was a special award for those that stood for the goals and ideals of the hospital.
Martha met the love of her life Billy Powell and was married on May 12, 1956, two days after her high school graduation. They shared a beautiful marriage of sixty-two years.
She is survived by her children, Traci Mora of Gallatin, Tennessee and Scott (Shelly) Powell of Asheville, North Carolina; and four grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturday, January 10, from 12:00pm until the hour of service at 1:00pm.
