Etta Powell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Pocomoke City on Feb. 28, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Etta Mae Powell, aged 69, on February 21, 2026. Etta was born on March 13, 1956, in Albany, NY, and she spent her later years in Pocomoke City, MD. A beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Etta dedicated her life to nurturing children as the owner of a day care, where her compassion and strength left a lasting impact on many families.

Etta is survived by her daughter, Angela Castillo (Sergio); son, Thomas Ward (Jenny); her cherished granddaughter, Hayley; and step-children, Matthew Powell and James Powell. She is also survived by her siblings, Robert Bozman (Mary Anne), Roland Bozman (Patricia), Harold Bozman (Bonnie), Edward Bozman (Karen), and Emma Joseph (Andy). Additionally, she leaves behind a special niece and nephew, Brooke Geesman and Roland Bozman Jr., whom she adored.

Etta was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Lester Powell, her parents William and Lillian Bozman, and her brother, William Bozman, Jr.

Etta was known for her love of crafting, crochet, puzzles, going camping, and spending time gardening her beautiful flowers. Her passion for animals, along with her joy of gift-giving, brought warmth to those around her. A strong-willed spirit, Etta's vibrant personality touched many lives.

A celebration of Etta's life will be held at 12pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851, with a visitation beginning one-hour prior, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.

In this time of sorrow, we remember Etta Mae Powell not just for her passing, but for the joy she brought into our lives. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
