Wayne King Christy

Wayne King Christy, 81, of Pocomoke City, Maryland, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026. He was born August 27, 1944, in Wilmington, Delaware.

Wayne grew up in Pocomoke City and was raised by his grandmother, Cora King, and Aunt, Mae King West. He graduated from Pocomoke High School in 1962 and went on to build a long and steady career with the A&P grocery stores, where he worked for 38 years. Wayne was known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and warm smile.

Wayne enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he treasured time spent traveling with his family. He was a man of faith and a devoted member of the First Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a quiet, steady presence who loved his family deeply and lived with grace and humility.

More than anything, Wayne loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Izetta Christy; his sons, David Christy (Maria) and Doug Christy (Diana); his sister, Carol Torres; and his grandchildren, Zarah, Sydney, Devin, Trevor, and Lauren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Mangrella, and his brother, Gary Mangrella.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 28, 2026 at the First Baptist Church in Pocomoke City. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a service at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's memory to First Baptist Church of Pocomoke City or Coastal Hospice
