Martha Malinda Gordon Revis, who graced this world for 88 years with her kindness and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Henderson County, North Carolina. Born on July 13, 1937, in the charming town of Saluda, North Carolina, she lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication.
Martha began her professional journey at General Electric, where she worked diligently for 13 years. Her career path then led her to H&R Block, where she devoted 32 years of her life to helping others. Her commitment to her work was a testament to her perseverance and integrity. Later, she found herself serving at the NC License Plate Agency before retiring, bringing her signature warmth and efficiency to each role she embraced.
A founding member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Martha's life was deeply rooted in her faith. Her heavenly melodies filled the church as she served as the pianist and organist for many years. Her music was a source of inspiration and solace to all who were blessed to hear it.
Martha's educational journey began at Saluda High School in Polk County, a place where she formed cherished memories and friendships that would last a lifetime.
Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ed Franklin Gordon, Sr., and Dora Davis Gordon, and her dear siblings Oscar Gordon, Frank Gordon, Mildred Ward, Ruth Ledbetter, Paul Gordon, Reverend Walter B. Gordon, Sr., and Eddie Gordon, Martha is now joyfully reunited with them in eternal rest.
Her legacy continues through her loving husband of 69 years, Vance McRee Revis; her devoted daughter, Donna Pryor (Cecil); cherished grandchildren, Matthew Slagle (Cheyenne), Zeb Pryor, and Anna Pryor; step-grandchildren, Lee Pryor (Emily), Christina White (Daniel), and Nick Pryor (Kristina); adored great-grandchild, Gideon Slagle; and beloved step-great-grandchildren, Colin Pryor, Finley Pryor, Isla Pryor, Lennox Pryor, Addy White, Grayson White, and Jaxson Papke. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family members and friends who were touched by her gentle spirit and generous heart.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Saluda, officiated by Reverend Danny Stepp, Reverend Nathan Rush, and Reverend Phil Coleman. Mrs. Revis will lie in state 30 minutes before the service at the church, allowing loved ones to gather in remembrance.
Following the service, a Graveside Service will be held in the Grace Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family invites friends to join them for food and fellowship in the church's Fellowship Building following the graveside service.
