Martha Jane Riedlinger

Martha Jane Riedlinger, age 77 of Albertville, passed away October 20th, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 3pm pm Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Bro. Jimmy Ashley & Bro. Chris Clark will be officiating. Burial will follow the service in Martling Cemetery. The family will receive friends from5-8pm on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel.
"Martha was the youngest of 16 children born to William & Cora Ashley. She was a resident of Marshall Co most of her life and attended Asbury Jr. High School. While in her teens, Martha's niece encouraged her to become a pen pal with Verlyn Riedlinger who was a soldier friend from North Dakota. Through those letters, Martha found the love or her life. After a short pen pal courtship, Verlyn came to Alabama to meet Martha and her family. His proposal for marriage followed that visit. A short time later on July 17, 1965, they repeated their marriage vows during his military leave prior to a 12-month tour of active duty in Vietnam. During his absence, Martha received the Holy Ghost and was a faithful follower of Jesus the rest of her life. After Verlon's return, the young couple's hearts were broken by the stillborn birth of their daughter, Loretta Jane. Later God blessed them with two sons, Tim and Bruce. More blessings came with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Martha was a devoted housewife. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing and gardening but her favorite pastime activity was yard sale and thrift store shopping. She and Verlyn also enjoyed visiting the sick and helping those in need. Martha had a passionate love for her birth family, keeping as many as possible updated on everyone. Her loving spirit was due to her devout faith in God. She was a lifetime member of the Martling Holiness Church where she was well known for her ability to get answers from Heaven for her many sincere prayers. Martha will be greatly missed by all, especially her little family who daily depended upon those prayers."
