Martha Scull Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley & Stow Funeral Home on Jan. 21, 2026.
Martha was born on Sunday, January 9th, 1949. She came to know Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a very early age, entrusting her life to Him. Life is a journey ~ one that can be fraught with rough seas, turbulent storms, trials and tribulations. Throughout her life, Jesus has been her lighthouse, safe harbor, and anchor for her soul. He brings joy and peace in the midst of the storms of life.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, Jesus transported Martha from the trials of earth into the joys of heaven to be forever with Him and reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her ("to be absent from the body" is "to be present with the Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8). Martha's faith defined who she was: "In Him (Christ) we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28)." "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear (Hebrews 11:3)." "But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6)." People often confuse God the Creator with the things He created. No matter what happens on earth, God is Sovereign and is in complete control. He sees what we cannot. God alone is to be worshiped, not the things He created. We show our love for God by obeying Him and by living our lives to honor Him.

Growing up in Marlton, Martha enjoyed exploring woodlands and cranberry bogs, finding wildflowers, fishing, visiting the shore and walking the beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City. Her family often visited the Pocono Mountains, Lake George in New York, and the Shenandoah Valley and Skyline Drive in Virginia. They also enjoyed going to Clementon Lake Park, Holly Ravine's ice cream shop, The Cow Tail Bar, and The Hawaiian Cottage.

Matha's family enjoyed raising Shetland ponies (she trained the young ones). She helped with taking care of her family's large vegetable garden. Martha's many interests included: reading, music and playing piano, nature studies, arts and crafts, sewing, crochet, baking, and collecting poems and seashells. Martha was privileged to have the opportunity to care for both of her parents as they endured illness and declining health in their later years.

Martha graduated from Lenape Regional High School in 1967. Afterwards she attended Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), majoring in elementary education and music. Graduating in August of 1970, she began her teaching career at the Beeler School in Marlton in September. She pursued her teaching career throughout the decades, also teaching at The Wiley Christian School in Marlton, and later at The King's Christian School in Haddon Heights. Martha was very grateful to have been able to touch the lives of so many children by showing them that they were able to learn and succeed (even when they did not think it was possible for them to do so). She enjoyed watching her students experience the joy of learning ~ it was truly her pleasure to work with each one of them and see them grow and mature as they learned to build their lives on the truth of God's Word. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8)

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 2pm-3pm in the Bradley and Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. A Funeral Service will follow at 3pm. Interment will be held in Laurel Memorial Park, Inc., 2301 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey 08234 at 11am on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
