Martha Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Montlawn Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations on Dec. 30, 2025.
Martha Ann Smith, 79, of Raleigh, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Transitions LifeCare in Raleigh. Born on September 22, 1946, in Randolph County, she was the beloved daughter of the late Warren E. Smith and Kathleen Smith. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Smith and Gary Smith. Ann met the love of her life, John, in high school in 1964. John knew immediately that she was the special one, and they married in April of 1966. Together, they built a life of memories filled with love and laughter for almost 60 years. Ann retired in 1992 from her brother's company. She served as a dedicated bookkeeper and office manager. Following her retirement, she became a full-time grandma. She was affectionately known as "Grandma" not just to her family, but to all of her grandson's friends as well, as she was famous for always having warm brownies ready when they came over. Ann's life was defined by her unwavering love and devotion to her family.

Ann is survived by her devoted husband of almost 60 years, John Smith; their daughter, Crystal; grandson, Johnny Smith and his wife, Merritt Smith; and great-grandson, Colt Smith, of Selma. She is also survived by her brother, Tim Smith, and his wife, Sharron, of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Deborah Smith; niece, Kathleen Smith; nephews, Darren Smith and Eric Smith; and a host of extended family and friends.
