Martha Jane Taylor (1948-2024), 76, of Athens, GA, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 8th, 2024. Born and raised in the former community of Whitehall located in Athens, GA, Martha was a simple woman and a faithful servant of the Lord. In her early years, she worked at Thomas Textile and as a housekeeper. She loved to travel and worked tirelessly. Martha adored her family and cherished every moment spent with them. Known for her selflessness and compassion, she never met a stranger and loved everyone fiercely. Those who knew her remember her as nothing short of amazing. Her family finds comfort in knowing she walked into the gates of heaven with the Lord.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Sara Murray; husband, Raleigh Taylor; brothers, Edward Murray and John Jr. Murray; sister, Dorothy Murray; and daughter, Donna Porter.
She is survived by her sons, John Taylor and Brantley (Elizabeth) Taylor, Adopted Daughter April McCue; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Trevor) Taylor, Tyler Palmer, Michelle (JT) Roberts, Kody (Leah) Taylor, Brionna Taylor, Zachary (Savannah) Taylor, and Grayson Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Leah, Neveah, Ryder, Walker, and Raleigh; and many friends and family.
Visitation will be held at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, East, on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place Friday in the chapel of Lord and Stephens Funeral Home starting at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Moons Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
