Martha Wardill of Eatonia Saskatchewan, beloved wife of the late William Wardill, passed away in Cochrane, Alberta on Feb 21, 2024 at the age of 97. She was born on March 16, 1926 near Leader, Saskatchewan. Martha, also known as Marti, leaves to cherish her memory daughters Jan Wardill of Victoria,BC, Dori (Ken) Skea and grandsons Kyle Skea of Calgary, Ryan (Ye-Kyung) Skea and Patrick (Natasha) Skea of Regina and great-grandchildren William & Scarlett and Cayley as well as by her sister Marie and her family in California.
Martha is predeceased by her husband William (March 19, 2022), parents Alfred & Anna Besler, brother Walter, sister Frieda Hillman and nephew Ronald Besler.
Martha was born near Estuary, Sask and was raised on farms nearby where she attended country schools including Trosley School and then completed high school in Leader, Sask. She trained as a teacher and worked in country schools prior to moving to Eatonia to teach where she married Bill Wardill and raised a family. Martha was an avid reader and served on the library board for many years. She had an artistic flare and enjoyed drawing & painting. She especially enjoyed traveling and took trips overseas and to USA, Mexico and within Canada. In her later years, she enjoyed learning as much as she could about her Eastern European ancestry. Martha was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her family.
Martha spent her last years at the Hawthorne care home in Cochrane. The family would like to thank the staff there for the excellent care she received and for their kindness and support during Martha’s last days.
