Marti Jane (Rummel) Piper, 68, of Oakland City, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 13, 2025. She was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on August 23, 1957, to the late Carl and Jean Rummel of Evansville, Indiana.
Marti is survived by her husband, Bob Piper of Oakland City; her brother, "Mikey" Shane Rummel (Rita) of Whitestown, Indiana; and her sister, Leesa Rummel Scales (Scott) of Maple Grove, Minnesota. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Casey Piper Goad (Benjamin) of Nashville, Tennessee; Megan Clemmer (John) of Sheffield, Alabama; and R. Alex Piper of Oakland City, Indiana; along with her nieces and nephews, Ashley, Jessica, Kelsey, Meghan, and Stuart.
Marti will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and the energy she brought to every room. She was an avid reader who loved Agatha Christie mysteries, a loyal sports fan, and an enthusiastic boater who cherished time with friends on Lake Barkley. Music was another lifelong passion, especially the songs of "The Boss."
She earned her bachelor's degree from Purdue University and her master's degree from Northern Illinois University. Marti built a successful career in human resources with WorkOne of Southern Indiana and Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Princeton, Indiana.
Marti will be missed but the family feels great solace knowing she's back sitting at the kitchen table playing cards with her mom and dad.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
