Martiel Lisonbee Gager

A funeral service for Martiel L. Gager will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Burke officiating. The family will receive guests one hour prior to service on Friday. Burial to follow at McGee Cemetery in Chunky, MS. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Martiel L. Gager, age 92, of Chunky, MS passed away Friday, April 11, 2025, at her home peacefully surrounded by family.
Martiel was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She graduated from Enterprise High School. Later she graduated from Southern Missionary College (Southern Adventist University) in Collegedale, Tennessee. She was a teacher for over 15 years at Enterprise High School, Hickory Elementary School, and various schools in Alabama. George and Martiel got married on August 17, 1958, in Meridian, and were married for 55 years. Martiel was a member of the Meridian Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed her home where she spent her time gardening, tending to her flowers, and yard. Her joy in life was spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two children, Darryl Gager of Chunky and Tonya Gager Owens (Barry) of Nashville, Tennessee; three grandchildren, Jessica Gager of Billings, Montana, Sarah Owens Lockridge (Chris), of McMinnville, Tennessee, and Blake Owens of Nashville, Tennessee; four great-grandchildren, Ella Randall, Brinley Deaton, Levi Deaton, and Emma Lockridge; and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband George N. Gager; mother, Ruby Lisonbee; grandson, Casey Owens.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lamb, Kelvin Mitchell, Bob Southard, Jeremy Hopkins, Phil Ray, and David Burg. Honorary Pallbearer John Caudill.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home.
