Martin Douglas "Buddy" Cano Sr.

Martin "Buddy" Douglas Cano, Sr., aged 81, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026. He was born on December 1, 1944, in Victoria, Texas, to the late Martin L. Cano and Sophie Ames Cano.
A lifelong electrician and air conditioning technician, Martin was a man who cherished the outdoors, finding immense joy in life's simple pleasures. An enthusiastic fisherman and hunter, he felt most content when out on a boat fishing. In his younger days, Martin was often seen on the softball fields, where he relished many seasons of the game and the friendships that blossomed from it. Martin had a love for music while playing his guitar for his family and friends. He also enjoyed playing the oldies music with the Touch of Gold Band. Throughout his life, his most devoted companions were his dogs, Bella and Annie, who were always by his side and held a cherished place in his heart.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose Ann Cano; daughters, Shelly Olguin and Toni Misak (Robert); sons, Martin Cano, Jr. (Sabrina) and Michael Cano (LeAnne); siblings, Martha Simpson (Jerry), Julius Cano (Gloria), and Jeff Cano (Lisa); as well as 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin L. Cano and Sophie Ames Cano.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at Grace Funeral Home located at 2401 Houston Hwy., in Victoria, Texas.
There will be a Private Family Memorial at a later date.
In honor of Martin, all his grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
