Martin Dwight Ficke, 72, of Chadwick Island, New Jersey, died on Tuesday, September 10th, 2024.
Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, to Martin G. and Joan Ficke, Martin moved to Piscataway, New Jersey, where he would live until retiring and moving to Chadwick Island, New Jersey in 2007. After graduating from Rider University, he become an agent with the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service and subsequently a special agent with the U.S. Customs Service. In the aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001, Martin rose to the rank of Special Agent in Charge of the New York City Field Division, Department of Homeland Security / Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
An avid sports fan, Martin supported the New York Mets, New Jersey Devils, and New York Jets, but his true passion was Rutgers University football. A season ticket holder for 45 years, Martin would spend Saturdays in the Fall attending games and tailgating with his children and grandchildren. Martin led an active lifestyle and was an avid runner, having run several marathons throughout his life. He also had a passion for baseball and umpired games in retirement for the Shore Umpires Association.
Martin is survived by his wife Joanne (Micale) Ficke, their son Corey and his wife Kortny of Charlotte, NC, their son Jason and his wife Caitlin of Scotch Plains, NJ, his grandchildren Marshall, Anna, Benjamin, Alice, and Samuel, his mother Joan Ficke, and brothers Michael Ficke and Mark Ficke. He is survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
There will be a Memorial Mass offered for Martin on Friday October 11, 2024 at 10:30 am at Saint Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in Seaside Park, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fulfill at www.fulfillnj.org or to Marty's Place Senior Dog Sanctuary at www.martysplace.org in his memory.

God Bless you Marty for eternity. Wishing to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to your dear family. Met you 50 years ago at INS in New York City and we worked together there all those years ago. Still remember you fondly with respect and admiration. Rest In Peace

The first person I thought of interviewing was Martin who graciously gave me both an interview and tour of the DHS ICE facility in NYC where he was SAC. I remember Martin from our days at the legacy INS as well where his skills and abilities stood out among many. RIP...
