Martin H. Gembe, 66, of Red Lion, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, June 2. He was the beloved husband of Carol E. (Smith) Gembe. The couple would have celebrated 42 years of marriage this August.
Mr. Gembe was born in Dallastown on May 1, 1956 and was the son of the late Hershner and Virginia (Heyne) Gembe.
Martin was a municipality worker and most recently worked for the Wrightsville Borough. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. He was known as a social butterfly and was quick to make friends and engage people in conversation. Most of all Martin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Cassandra Gembe and her husband Christopher Stephens, Courtney Tillman and her husband Lloyd, and Miranda Gembe. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alex, Dariun, Wyatt, Dylan, Lilli and Meadow; sisters, Vickie Wiles and Darlene Campbell. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Gembe.
A funeral service to honor Martin's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 9th at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday and will begin at Noon until the start of the service. Burial will follow Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice of York for the care they provided to Martin.
