In Loving Memory of Martin Edward Koehn
January 28, 1954 – June 4, 2025
Martin Edward Koehn, age 71, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 4, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with cancer and COPD. He passed peacefully, surrounded by the love and comfort of his devoted family.
Born on January 28, 1954, in Grand Rapids, Martin was a lifelong resident of the area and a loving family man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Betty Koehn.
Martin is survived by his faithful and loving wife of many years, Patricia Koehn (Gutowski), with whom he shared a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, and adventures. He is also survived by his children: Michelle (Brian) Pankratz, Kevin (Heather) Koehn, Melissa (Seth) Brower, and Emiley Koehn; his grandchildren: Dakoda Pankratz, Reese Pankratz, Daniel Vaughn, Madison Pankratz, and Matthew Vaughn; and his great-grandchildren: Hudson Pankratz, Noah Pankratz, and Aaron Pankratz. He also leaves behind his sister Diane (John) Novak, in-laws, extended family, and friends.
Martin was an expert auto body repairman, working skillfully from his own garage. His meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to doing things right the first time reflected the pride he took in his work. He taught his children the value of hard work, integrity, independence and always doing their best.
He had a passion for the outdoors-hunting, fishing, and prospecting were among his favorite pastimes. Martin also had a green thumb; he lovingly revived his grandfather's raspberry bushes from the old family farm on Fuller Avenue and cultivated them into a thriving, delicious crop-so renowned that the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel used them in their fine dining establishments.
He and Patricia shared a love of travel, especially to Canada, and enjoyed camping trips and riding his treasured V-Max motorcycle. These simple joys brought them closer and created memories that will be treasured forever.
Revelation 21:4:
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain"
Visitation will be held at Memorial Alternatives on Thursday, June 12 at 3:30-5:30 p.m.
