Martin “Mick” Frank Jr. was born on April 3, 1952 in Montrose, CO to parents Martin Frank, Sr. and Evelyn Frank. After a brief battle with illness, he joined his Creator on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. His last days were filled with loving visits and phone calls from friends and family.

Mick was married to DeEtta Frank, now of Fulton, Missouri, for more than fifty years. He is survived by son Jason Frank and wife Elizabeth of Castle Rock, Colorado, and son Jerry Frank, wife Jennifer, and their children Ryan and Ellarie of Columbia, Missouri. Mick is also survived by his sisters, Sherry Hamblin of Montrose and Judy Allen of Canon City, Colorado, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mick was a maker by nature. He enjoyed building projects with his sons and spent most of his career in mining and construction. He worked across the American West including California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and Montana, as well as internationally in Peru and Kyrgyzstan. During his career, he helped build a transmountain diversion tunnel that delivered water to San Jose, California and an addition to Montrose Memorial Hospital. In 1999, Mick and DeEtta—along with family and friends—completed construction of their home on “the mountain,” which they loved.

Like his parents before him, Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a generous dreamer who enjoyed panning for gold, looking for lost treasure, and searching for Bigfoot. He loved cooking, resting in a cool mountain breeze, and watching the hummingbirds congregate on his back porch while drinking a hot cup of generously sugared coffee.

To quote Mick’s Uncle John, “It’s never goodbye, only So Long, for we will meet again.”

So long, Pop. We love you.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled in the Spring/ Summer of 2026.
