Martin "Marty" Stankowski, 65, left this world on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was born in Cudahy, WI on December 30, 1958, the son of Carole Follett and Ronald Stankowski. He was the owner of Martek, LLC company.
Marty was a man who could make you laugh, sometimes at your own expense, but always in a way that left you feeling like you'd gained a friend for life. Though his friends and family will undoubtedly hear a chorus of "sorry for your loss," they'll also smile at the memories of his love, loyalty, mischief, and his knack for turning everyday life into an unforgettable adventure. A proud Franklin, WI native, Marty graduated from Franklin High School in 1977, where he was the center of the football team – both literally and figuratively. His athletic prowess was matched only by his flair for pranks and playfulness. Whether he was organizing mooning sessions as part of the "Astronomy Club" or turning a decrepit milk truck into a rolling deathtrap for spring break, Marty lived life full-throttle. As a close friend perfectly put it, "Marty was a mischievous wizard who led friends into hilarious near-death experiences but was always there to soften the blows of life's hardest moments." His escapades are legendary, from sinking boats and pushing cars into ponds, to converting a sinking building into the bar cheekily named "Ilean's Tap." If there was a caper to be had, Marty was at the helm – or at least the one causing the ship to sink. He was also a fierce protector, loyal to his core. Beneath his gruff exterior was a man with a heart as big as his antics. Whether he was rescuing stranded friends on one of his perilous fishing trips or taking in stray animals, Marty's love was boundless.
Marty leaves behind his sisters, Wendy Stankowski and Becky Walkowiak; brothers, Ronald "Stan" Stankowski and Jason Stankowski; step-son, Greg Hausinger; beloved grandchildren, Kaden and Carly; his cats, Tiger and Bear, and a far-reaching constellation of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carole Follett; step-father Ronald Walkowiak, father Ronald Stankowski and his loving partner of 20 years, Marilyn Kiley.
Though his time with us has ended, the stories will continue. A memorial will be held in Wisonsin at a later date. His memorial will be full of laughter, a bit of awe, and no shortage of incredulous "did he really do that?!" tales. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
