Marty Hutchison

Martha R. 'Marty' Hutchison, age 85 of Cridersville, passed of natural causes on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at St. Rita's Mercy Health Emergency Room. She was born February 6, 1940 to the late Wendell and Luena Miller Gallup. On October 3, 1959 she married David G. Hutchison, and he survives in Cridersville.

Marty was employed at Westinghouse and Helping Hands. She was a devoted homemaker who generously shared her gifts with others, especially through youth ministry. Throughout her life, she was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, and Shawnee United Methodist Church, where she contributed her time and heart to Sunday School, youth groups, catechism, and mission trips.

Marty's passion for helping young people grow extended well beyond the church. She was a roller skating instructor. Her 4-H involvement included serving as a member, club advisor, Junior Leader, and with the Junior Fairboard. She also served as a counselor and board member for both church and 4-H camps. Her commitment to youth and her community was further seen in her role as a high school gymnastics official, John Appleseed volunteer, Allen County Museum Christmas Tree Festival Coodinator.

For her countless hours of service and dedication, Marty was honored as a Jefferson Award Recipient. She will be remembered for her love of family, her selfless giving, and the many lives she touched through her faith, guidance, and encouragement.

Also surviving is a son – Jonathan (Heather) Hutchison of Wooster, Ohio; 2 daughters – Mary (Gary) Pearson of Longmont, CO; Sarah (Chock) Norris of Lima; a daughter-in-law – Joyce Hutchison of Lima; 19 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren – Lelah Kruse (Max, Dylan); Jesse Norris (Willow, Wilder and baby); Adeline Pearson; Margaret Hutchinson (Charles, Jane, Ruth); Josh Hutchison (Gavin, Loveena, Evelyn); Casey Norris (Ozias, Zimri); Annick Shaswar (Marlowe); Jenni Mills (Lane); Claire Mainprize, Isaiah Hutchison (Logan, Hayden); Quentin Pearson; Naomi Perkins (Maverick); Joel Hutchison; Levi Hutchison; Johnnie Norris; Micah Hutchison; Katy Norris; 2 brothers – Carl Gallup of Russells Point, Ohio and Dean (Barb) Gallup of Lakeview, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a son - Jeffrey D. Hutchison, who passed 2007; 2 grandchildren – Julie Marie Hutchison, who passed 1996; and Jeremy David Hutchison, who passed 2007.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Rev. Samuel Payne and her son, Jon Hutchison will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, September 1, 2025 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 2nd at the church.
