Marty Nash Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miles J. Kimble Mortuary & Cremation on Feb. 3, 2026.
Marty Dewayne Nash was born on September 25, 1976, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Narvella Barnes Thomas and Marty D. Nash, affectionately known as "Bubba." He was also blessed with a second father, Aloysius Thomas, and a second mother, Edith Nash. From an early age, Marty's life reflected creativity, passion, and purpose.

During his high school years, Marty was truly an all-rounder. He had a love for fashion, hairstyling, dancing, poetry, and singing. His musical gifts were shared faithfully as a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church choir in Aubrey, Arkansas, where he uplifted many through song and service.

Marty was a proud graduate of Lee Senior High School, Class of 1994. At the age of 18, he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his discipline, strength, and dedication. After his military service, Marty pursued a career in call center management, which led him to Florida. His determination and work ethic earned him a degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.

On January 28, 2001, Marty accepted the call of the Lord. He was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit, marking a pivotal moment in his life. From that day forward, his journey was deeply rooted in faith, service, and helping others.

Marty's professional career was nothing short of groundbreaking. He was hired by the Miami Association of Realtors, becoming the association's first Black staff member as Director of Membership Services. Through excellence and leadership, he rose to the position of Chief Operations Officer. He later founded his own consulting company, which opened doors to even greater opportunities.

Marty went on to serve as the youngest and first Black Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Los Angeles Beverly Hills Association of Realtors. His final role was as Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors in New York, also as the first Black individual to hold that position. Though his time there was brief, his impact was lasting.

Marty lived an extraordinary life and traveled the world, embracing every experience with joy and purpose. He was a devoted son, grandson, nephew, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and employer. Marty gave his all in everything he did, always leading with love, service, generosity, and respect. One of a kind and deeply loved, Marty will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his work here was complete and that he has been called to eternal rest. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will live on forever.

Marty leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother and second father, Narvella and Aloysius Thomas; his grandmother, Louvenia Barnes (93); sisters, Nekia Lewis, Tamara (Cordelrio) Long, Dana Edwards, Tracy (Philip) Hutton, Niketa Nash, Melody (Daniel) Padgett, and Jamie Thomas (Baugh); brothers, James Bingham, Alfred Thomas, Martieo (Tae' Anderson) Nash, and Marcelles (Kelli) Nash; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marty D. Nash, "Bubba," and his brother-in-love, Leon (Tre) Edwards.
