Marvin Lyle Bigelow, 94 years old of Darien, WI passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at home with his family. He was born May 30, 1931 to the late Floyd and Madalyn (Coffee) Bigelow in Darien, WI. Marv graduated from Darien High School in 1949 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954 and was in combat during the Korean War. After his time in the Army was complete, Marv came back home to Darien. There, he met the love of his life, Shirley Nacke - and it all started when his sister Jeanne and Shirley were stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire! Marv and Shirley were happily married in 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Harvard, IL and Shirley preceded him in death on July 31, 2021. Marv was a self-employed livestock hauler for 20 years before selling his business and working for Stowell Trucking - earning the CB handle of "Supercat." After 60 years of trucking and logging over one million miles, he attempted to retire.three times, the third time stuck because who can pass up a good party. Marv never retired from farming. He loved raising his cattle and crops and taking care of his property. Marv could always be found with a baseball cap on, which he no doubt got for free. He never missed the opportunity to attend an auction where you could count on him to walk away with a used lawnmower or cattle gates, which of course he had to paint Farmall Red. Marv and his siblings all lived to be in their nineties. From his birth until his death, Marv was a proud lifelong resident of Darien.

Marv was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandpa and Great Grandpa. He is survived by his children, Wayne, Ron, Rose (Ralph), and Theresa (Tom); grandchildren, Lee (Madison), Alex, Ben, Chelsea (Tyler), Bryce (Hayden), Madalyn (Matt), Ryan, and Riley; four great-grandchildren with one on the way. Also many nieces and nephews. Along with his wife and parents, Marv was preceded in death by his siblings, Don Bigelow and Jeanne (Milo) Keech.

It was important for Marv to stay on the farm that he loved so much and his son, Wayne "Uncle Buck" dedicated the last three years to ensure dad did just that. Marv was blessed with a host of loving neighbors, friends and family that looked out for him, checked on him, and loved him. A special thank you to those folks that were so good to him. A heartfelt thank you to Agrace Hospice for their care and comfort during Marv's last days.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Darien Cemetery, North Walworth St. Darien, WI 53114 with Pastor Bob Kamps of the Como Community Church officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following the graveside service at 12:00PM at the Darien American Legion Post 450, 15 Market St. Darien, WI, 53114.
