Marvin E. Butterworth

Marvin E. Butterworth, 81, of Hardinsburg, formerly of Cecilia, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Marvin loved to farm and he had retired from Knights Mechanical and previously worked for Z.L. Lucas, Addie S. French and Apollo Engineering. He attended Mount Gilead Church.

Marvin was preceded in death by his previous wife, Aloma Butterworth; his parents, C.B. and Sallie Smothers Butterworth; his brother, Cecil Butterworth; and his four sisters, Dorothy Basham Clark, Lillian Allen, Margie Duvall and Lyvonne Blan.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Margaret Butterworth; three sons, Jason (Marsha), Tracy and Marlin (Judy); a daughter, Angie (Al) Schofield; two sisters, Rita Lewis and Shirley Rutledge; 12 grandchildren, Mason, Natosha, Trey, Devin, Calvin, Kylin, Allison, Justin, Jyvanni, Amari, Janessa and Jazlyn; and two great-granddaughters, Avery and Livia. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and friends.

The funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct, 18, at Manakee Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with the Rev. Roger Stillwell officiating. Burial follows in Fairfield Church Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
