Marvin “Butch” Dietzen, age 90 of De Pere, WI passed away on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023 at Sage Meadow Assisted Living facility following a brief illness. Butch was born on May 28, 1933 in Kimberly, WI, the son of the late Joseph and Clara (Anderson) Dietzen. He graduated from Kimberly High School with the class of ‘53 and decided to serve his country and enlist in the Army during the Korean war. Butch married Marcia Janssen in April of 1957 in Kaukauna and together, they raised 2 wonderful children. After his time in the military, Butch was employed at American National Can in Neenah for almost 40 years.
Butch enjoyed golfing, tending to his roses, model railroading, and woodworking. Later in life he enjoyed watching birds, doing puzzles on his computer, and riding his mobility scooter through the neighborhood. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor.
Butch is survived by his children, Nancie (Mark) Delebo and Lee (Amy) Dietzen; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Samie Kaufman) Delebo and Thomas (Rachel Stokes) Delebo; his sister, Donna (Dick) Van Grinsven; his siblings-in-law, Earl Wallace, Carl (Kathy) Janssen, Mary Dietzen, Linda (James) Fredericksen, Phyllis Janssen, and Karen Janssen; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives, and dear friends.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Dietzen; an infant daughter, Laurie; his parents-in-law, Edward and Viola Janssen; his siblings, Ken (Grace) Dietzen, Ronald Dietzen, Joseph (Rose) Dietzen, Shirley (Emil) Better, and Carla Wallace; his siblings-in-law, James Janssen, Richard Janssen, Gary Janssen, Joanne (Gary) Ganzyk, and Shirley Janssen.
A memorial visitation will be held for Butch from 9-11 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Jansen-Fargo Funeral Home, 204 E. Kimberly Ave, Kimberly, WI 54136 with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Butch will be laid to rest at Holy Name Cemetery in Kimberly, WI forever alongside the love of his life, Marcia. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Butch’s name to the American Heart Association.
