Marvin "Bud" Eugene Germany, Jr., entered eternal rest peacefully, at the age of 76, June 5, 2023. He was born in Burnet, Texas on March 12, 1947, to Marvin Eugene Germany Sr. and Kathleen Fischer Germany. Bud was preceded in death by his parents Marvin Germany Sr. and Kathleen Fischer Germany, his sister Bobby Gene Germany, his wife of many years Kimberly "Wendi" Dagmar Germany, his partner of four years, Amy Schwander Townson and his traveling buddy Pepper. He is survived by his beloved son Erik Germany (Whitney) and stepchildren Casey Beck (Rochelle) and Sarah Beck (Keaton). Bud was the proud grandfather of Cory Germany, Ryan Germany, Drew Germany, Frankie Germany, Sophia Beck, Ava Beck, Kimberly Slagle, Kody Slagle and great-grandfather of Zoey Roberts. He was a wonderful brother to his siblings Janice Germany, Chuck Germany (Sherry) and Tracey Germany. Bud will be missed by his many lifelong friends including Lisa Campos, Adrian Germany and Ginger Jourdan Rushing as well all of his friends at the Abita Springs Resort, nieces, nephews and cousins around the country. A native of Burnet, Texas, and proud resident of the world, Bud called Covington, Louisiana his home after he retired. Bud attended Slidell High School before he graduated from Covington High School where he was a member of the football and track teams. He attended Southwestern Louisiana University and Lenoir College in North Carolina where he was a pioneer in their newly established School of Aviation Technology. After graduating, he joined the staff there as an instructor and flew for the North Carolina Forestry Service. After many years in the aviation field, Bud returned to marine construction with Brown & Root and later Traylor Industries, following in his father's footsteps. He lived in California and Hawaii. He was a member of the Local 12 International Union of Operating Engineers and operated some of the largest cranes in the world. One of his proudest accomplishments was when he became an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America. Bud was a Renaissance Man. He was prepared for any occasion and lived life to its fullest. He was thoughtful, loving, adventurous, and made friends as well as a lasting impression wherever his travels took him. He enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, golfing, shooting firearms, scuba diving, flying and skydiving. Bud loved music and played the guitar, harmonica and the drums. He was fluent in Spanish, loved mojitos and was a grill master. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Bud was an ol' cowboy at heart. Bud was truly one of a kind and irreplaceable, well respected and loved, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His adventurous spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
