Marvin Gingerich Obituary
Marvin R. Gingerich, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at Tawas MyMichigan Medical Center on Dec. 23, 2025.
Marvin was a lifelong resident of Tawas born on May 22, 1932 to Rudy and Jeanette (Featheringill) Gingerich. He graduated from high school in East Tawas and was drafted into the Air Force during the Korean War serving much of his time in Africa.
After returning to Tawas he met Maxine Toland (O'Farrell). They were married on Nov. 3, 1956 after a whirlwind courtship and lived in Tawas for most of their married life. Maxine preceded him in death in 1992.
Marvin retired from Tawas Industries as a foreman in 1997. After retirement he traveled with friends to western United States visiting family and enjoying the great outdoors. He loved wearing plaid shirts, telling jokes, casinos, and spending time volunteering with community groups.
He belonged to the Sand Lake Men's Association (he was the Bingo master for a number of years), Sand Lake SnoGoers (enjoying bus trips to the casinos in the U.P.), and helped cut wooden nickels at the Tawas Point Lighthouse celebrations. He was an avid bowler in his younger years.
Besides casino trips, Marvin loved being outdoors enjoying the woods and wildlife. He was also talented at woodworking making coat racks and canes out of tree branches. Most of these beautiful creations were given to family or he used himself.
Above all else he loved his large family. They will miss him dearly and will always cherish the memories he made with them. His humor and gentle nature will forever be remembered.
