West Liberty, Iowa

Cynthia "Cindy" Gingerich, 65, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family.

In honoring Cindy's wishes, no visitation or services will be held. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty is caring for Cindy and her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cindy Gingerich Memorial Fund, c/o Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, PO Box 46, West Liberty, Iowa 52776.

Cynthia Sue was born April 12, 1960, in Iowa City, the daughter of Peter and Sandra (Weber) Gerot. She graduated from Highland High School in 1978. On March 10, 1995, Cindy was united in marriage to Chuck Gingerich in Muscatine. She was employed with R.R. Donnelley, formerly Moore Business Forms, for more than 45 years.

Thrifting was Cindy's passion - she could spend hours browsing every aisle in search of hidden treasures. She loved to cook and try new recipes; it was impossible to leave her home hungry. Each spring she tended her garden, growing vegetables she would later can in the fall, including making homemade salsa. She had a special talent for decorating and could transform what others saw as "junk" into something beautiful and unique.

To say she adored her family would be an understatement. Cindy cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She made every opportunity to attend their extracurricular activities and special events.

She is survived by her husband, Chuck; her children, Danielle Shaffer, Austin (Katie) Hochstetler, Cassi Hochstetler, Pat (Tonya) Gingerich, Holly Gingerich , and Josh (Angie) Gingerich; her grandchildren, Jackson, Janey, Charli, Chandler, Oliver, Jaylee, Archie, Ava, Milli, Elli, Ethan, Cash, Dylann, Emma, and Felix; and one great-grandson, Wyatt. She is also survived by her parents, Peter and Sandra Gerot; brothers, Mike (Renee) Gerot and Rick (Judy) Gerot; sister, Penny (Lael) Stout; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shelbe; her maternal grandparents, Lewis and Charlotte Weber; and her paternal grandparents, Robert and Zelda Gerot.
