Larry Metz

Riverside- Larry H. Metz was born December 20, 1953, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Urban and Alma (Heck) Metz. He graduated from Highland High School and attended Kirkwood Community College for Collision Repair. Larry worked in the collision repair business for several companies for 30 plus years, most recently at Premier in North Liberty. Following his retirement he owned a storage business. On November 17, 2017, Larry was united in marriage to Kathleen Verzaal in Iowa City, Iowa. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. He was a 3rd generation owner and steward of the Metz family century farm. Larry enjoyed improving the farm ground and buildings and being out in nature. Larry passed away Monday, December 1, 2025 at his home in Riverside at the age of 71 years.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathleen Metz of Riverside, two sons Kevin (Cara) Metz of Williamsburg and Daniel Metz of Iowa City, two step children Sarah (Zach) Stahl of Davenport and Daniel (Nora) Verzaal of Bettendorf, three grandchildren Lillian Shrock, Elizabeth Metz and Flora Stahl and a brother Duane (Deb) Metz of Riverside. He was preceded in death by his parents Urban and Alma Metz.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside. Burial will be held in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Riverside.
