Marvin Green Obituary
Marvin Leabert Green, age 84 years, passed away on August 2, 2025, in Independence, Missouri. Born on November 16, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri to Frank Leabert Green and Melva Louise (Morris) Green, Marvin will be missed by all who knew him.
Marvin attended Van Horne High School and, shortly after, enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served honorably for four years. Raised in the Baptist faith, he carried the values instilled in him throughout his life. Marvin was a dedicated and self-employed vending machine operator. He was known for his strong work ethic, having run his own route in the vending machine industry for over 35 years. His contributions to his community through his business were a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to serving those around him.
Marvin cultivated a range of hobbies and interests, reflecting his diverse talents and passions. He was a self-taught silver smith and enjoyed collecting semi-precious stones. Marvin always kept up with current news and was a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed spending time at the shooting range, a pastime that offered him both relaxation and skill development.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Julie Barker; sister, Margie Moffitt; brother, Melvin Green; grandchildren, Bruce Ringwood Jr (Jenna), Jordan Budd, Taylor Budd, Amie Ringwood, Kasie Ringwood, Mitchell Ringwood, Nikki Barker, and Josh Barker; and great-grandchildren, Henry Ringwood, Haddison Ringwood, Ellie Ringwood, Mylie Barnicle, Jonnie Barnicle, Penny Ringwood, Piper Ringwood, Levi Ringwood, Ikani Ringwood, and Jerzie Ringwood. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marilyn Kay (Stevens) Green; and parents, Frank Leabert Green and Melva Louise Green.
The visitation for Marvin Leabert Green will be held on August 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Both events will take place at Speaks Suburban Chapel, located at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055.
Marvin will be remembered as a hard worker and a creative soul, whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
