Marvin Wiley Hart, 88, of Goldston passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021 at Coventry House Of Siler City. Mr. Hart was born in Chatham County on January 21, 1933 the son of William Donnie and Pauline Bright Hart. Marvin was an Army Veteran who was proud to have served his country at Ft. Bragg during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Meroney United Methodist Church where he loved to fellowship with his Sunday School Class. Marvin as a Chatham County community servant, past President of the Goldston Lions Club and was awarded the Jack Strickland. After 46 years of service, Marvin retired from his career at Collins & Aikman to spend his days as a poultry farmer. In addition to his parents, Marvin is preceded in death by his son; Duane Hart, brother; Kirby L. Hart and great granddaughter; Chloe Stevenson. He is survived by his wife of 68 years; Shirley Brafford Hart, daughter; Phyllis Hart Pettit and husband Don of Siler City, son; Gary Hart and wife Rosana of Goldston, daughter in law; Peggie Hart of Bear Creek, grandchildren; Donna Stevenson and husband Scott, Tammy Everett and husband Rob, Jeremy Hart, Beth Hamm and husband Justin, Hannah Sirls and husband Josh, Will Hart and Mia Hart, great grandchildren; Cameron and Caleb Stevenson, Matthew and Christopher Everett, Mason and Emily Hamm and sister; Ida H. Smart of Gibsonville. Mr. Hart will Lie in Repose on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 1:00-5:00 PM at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Meroney United Methodist Church, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek, NC with Rev. Jim Whittaker officiating. The family would like to give a special Thank You to all of the caregivers at Coventry House for their amazing care. Memorials may be made to the Goldston Lions Club, P.O. Box 455, Goldston, NC 27252 or the Meroney Church Cemetery Fund, 10568 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek, NC 27207. Smith & Buckner is assisting the Hart family.
