Marvin Lee Obituary

Marvin James Lee passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2026.

Marvin was born on February 23, 1948 in Oshkosh, WI to Clarence Lee and Helen (Kratz) Lee. Marvin was raised on the family farm west of Berlin. Marvin attended Redgranite and Berlin schools, graduating in 1966, and went on to UW-Oshkosh. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967, serving for four years during the Vietnam era. He was a plank owner of the USS Frederick, LST-1184, serving as a Diesel Mechanic (Motor Mac) in that ship’s engine rooms.

After school and his Navy tour, Marvin met and married Marjorie Emily Schabel. They were married on July 27, 1974 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairburn, living briefly in Fond Du Lac and moving to Pickett in 1975. In 1977, they welcomed twins Jason and Jennifer into their loving home.

Marvin worked initially as a Diesel Mechanic, and then spent his career at the United States Postal Service, in Oshkosh. Upon retirement, he spent his time repairing cars, small engines, and power equipment, which was what he enjoyed doing the most.

Marvin was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, serving in many ways including church council, and he had just entered his 40th year of teaching middle school youth in Sunday School.

Marvin’s hobbies included working on engines and power equipment, and it was common to find him in his shop, fixing, rebuilding, or building cars, lawnmowers, go-karts, or anything with an engine. He also enjoyed music, being a self-taught accordion player. Marvin had a great sense of humor – those who knew him will remember him as witty, funny, entertaining, and generous. Much of the work he did for those in the community was donated.

Marvin had 10 grandchildren, and he loved every one of them; one of his favorite things to do when not working in the shop was to visit his grandchildren and spend time with them joking, laughing, and discussing the events of the day.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Marge on February 21, 1993, and by his father Clarence and mother Helen.

Survivors include his son, Jason (Kara) Lee; daughter, Jenny (Todd) Schmitz; grandchildren, Derek, Carson, Anika, Alex, and Karina Lee, and Jadon, Jayna, Seth, Eli, and Jesse Schmitz; siblings, Cheryl (Edward) Buchanan, Clarence (Mary) Lee, and Joanne (Bill) Jakubek.

Visitation for Marvin will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church, 508 Co Rd M, Pickett, WI 54964.

Memorial service for Marvin will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in Pickett, with Rev. Jud Krohn officiating. You may view a livestream of the service at 11:00 am by visiting this link LIVESTREAM. A luncheon will take place immediately following the service at the church. A memorial will be established in his name for Grace Lutheran Church Sunday school.

His family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to SSM Hospice in Green Lake, and especially to nurse Rachel and home health aid Tiffany, who provided excellent and compassionate care in Marvin’s final weeks on this earth.

2 Timothy 4:7: ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.'
