Marvin Glenn Lewing, age 77, of Groves, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on December 1, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, Marvin lived a life full of dedication, hard work, and love for his family and friends.
A graduate of Port Neches Groves High School, Marvin pursued a diverse career as a forklift operator, mechanic, and industrial painter. His work ethic and skills were highly regarded among his peers, and he approached each task with the diligence that defined him throughout his life.
Marvin was known for his deep love for family. He cherished New Year’s dinners spent with his brothers and sister, as well as delightful get-togethers at the camp in Zwolle, Louisiana, surrounded by those he held dear. These memories painted a picture of joy and fellowship, reflecting the bond he shared with his loved ones.
An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Marvin's enthusiasm for football was particularly notable; he would not watch a game unless the Cowboys were playing, evidencing his passionate support for the team.
Marvin is survived by his children, Paul Lewing and his wife, Arnetta; Anthony "Tony" Lewing, Shaunna Purdon, and Brittany Purdon. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Erik Lewing and his wife, Shelby; Ashlynn, Kyerra, Kendall, Rebecca, Destiny, Faith, Paisley, and Presley, along with his great-grandchildren, Grayson and Farrah. His siblings, Pat Lewing, Debbie Dombrosky and her husband, Orvie, Don Lewing and his wife, Audrey. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, Vicki Lewing and Melody Lewing. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends will also remember Marvin fondly.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, John Lewing and Nettie Belle (Campbell) Lewing, as well as his brothers, Michael and Gary Lewing, and his longtime companion of 20 years, Pam Purdon. Their memories will remain woven into the fabric of his legacy.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on March 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM both held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves located at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619.
Marvin Glenn Lewing’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed but always remembered with love and affection.
