Marvin Arvil Pressley, “Mouse”, passed away peacefully at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility in Monroe, North Carolina on February 14, 2026. He was born on September 8, 1937, in Monroe, North Carolina. His wife, Margaret Elizabeth Shuman Pressley, preceded him in death, on November 8, 2022. Marvin and Margaret were founding members of Rolling Hills United Methodist Church, where they attended.
Marvin graduated from Benton Heights High School. He served in the Army, honorably discharged, and retired from Bell South. After retirement, not wanting to stay at home, Marvin worked in his cousin’s window company and then worked at Lowes in Monroe, which was his second retirement.
Marvin was always a Duke basketball fan. His wife, Margaret, would never let him fly the Duke devil flag on their house, but did allow the Duke doormat, which was used as a welcoming mat in his apartment at Brookdale.
Marvin is survived by two children, William Pressley and wife Lisa, and Scott Pressley and wife Amy; grandchildren, Madison Pressley, Jack Pressley, and Scott Pressley II.
Marvin will be deeply missed by his family, which he always put before himself.
Special thanks to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living Facility, Atrium Health Monroe 3rd Floor, and Via Hospice for the excellent care given to Marvin.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
