Marvin Nerby, 90, of Steele passed away November 4, 2025.
Marvin was born July 11, 1935, on the family homestead in Frettim Township, the son of Tosten (Tom) and Olga Nerby. Marvin was the youngest of 12 children who have all preceded him in death. He attended primary school in the Frettim schoolhouse. In 1949, they moved to Robinson, where he attended high school.
He married Gail Hudson on May 19, 1957, who has survived him after 68 years of marriage. He joined the army in 1958 and served in the 101st Airborne until 1968. The family then moved to South Gate in southern California, where he worked and raised his family until relocating to Puyallup, Washington, where he retired. Marvin and Gail then traveled around the country in an RV until they moved back to Steele, North Dakota, in 2001.
Three of their sons eventually moved to Steele to be with them. He loved to work with his hands, including the type of work he enjoyed. In retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and carpentry.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Gail; four sons, David, Dale, Douglas, and Daniel; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, November 13, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 203 Mitchell Ave S, Steele, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Steele.
