Marvin Redmond was born on June 16, 1968, to the parents of Robert Redmond Jr and Marva Redmond in Oak Ridge, TN. He grew up in Lexington, MS where he was well known and loved. He and his sister attended Lexington Elementary and later advanced to Junior High School at Lexington Attendance Center. He was also a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ at a young age until he moved.
Marvin was known for making others laugh and being a friendly person that never met a stranger. His family always said he should've been a comedian. If you ever met him you were sure to get a good laugh and enjoy his company. After spending years in Lexington, Marvin went to start a life in Chicago, IL where he stayed for many years until his health failed him. During his time in Chicago his greatest accomplishment that he often spoke of was the birth of his daughter Vanessa. They had the greatest bond with each other. Once his health failed him, he then moved back to his birthplace of Oak Ridge, TN to be with family. Once he moved to Oak Ridge, he was reunited with his grandmother Mattie Lee Scales and brother Anthony Scales.
Marvin also reunited with a special friend Denise Capshaw when he moved to Oak Ridge. They met when Marvin used to go to Oak Ridge every summer with his parents. He was thankful that Denise took care of him as he began to get ill. He often spoke of her being his best friend, nurse and confidant.
Marvin leaves to cherish his memories his parents Robert Redmond, Jr (Ruby) of Goodman, MS, his mother, Marva VanBuren of Jackson, MS, his daughter Vanessa Redmond of Chicago, IL, his brother Anthony Scales of Oak Ridge, TN, his sister Ramona Robinson Thomas (Le'Shun) of Southaven, MS, his brother Chris Mabry of Clinton, MS and his sister Tabitha (Conelous) Stiff of Yazoo City, MS. He also leaves behind two nieces Joia Redmond of Richland, MS and Yasmeen Robinson of Ridgeland, MS, a great nephew Taurean Washington of Richland, MS and his girlfriend of many years Denise Capshaw of Oak Ridge, TN and a host of cousins, aunts and uncles and friends.
