Marvin Lynn Royce, age 65, of Alford, FL passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Marvin was born on May 16, 1959, in Birmingham, AL. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1977 and soon after, enlisted in the United States Army where he served for 20 years as a Tanker where he earned the coveted Master Gunner Identification Badge. He retired at Fort Hood, Texas as a Staff Sergeant. After his dedicated service to his country, Marvin worked for Brinks Inc. and worked his way up to become a Firearms and Safety Instructor. He then chose to continue his service to the public in 2002 when he joined the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier where he served for 11 years before medically retiring as a supervisor. Marvin accomplished much in life, his greatest achievements included becoming 7th Dan Grandmaster, being inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2022 and 2024. Marvin was a family man and enjoyed helping his family. In 2014 Marvin took on the role of Deputy Chief of Security where he played a vital part in the creation of American Paratus Security Agency, a family business started by his son.
Marvin, the man who truly was everything he could be. He will always be remembered as a great husband, father and friend to anyone who needed him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carl Royce and his daughter, Jennifer Nicole Royce.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Heidrun Royce of Alford, FL; mother, Annie Catherine Brock of Pensacola, FL; son, Steven Lee Royce and wife, Natalie of Lynn Haven, FL; brothers, Carl Curtis Royce and wife, Kathy Lee of South Pittsburg, TN, Kirk Allen Royce and wife, Theresa of Freeport, FL; sister, Carla Royce Urbany and husband, Brian of Lakeland, FL as well as one grandchild, Christian Alexander Royce.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M., Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Marianna Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Coley officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of fellowship from 1 P.M. until the time of service.
Marvin will be interred in Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
