Marvin Edward Yardley

Marvin Edward Yardley, age 79, lost a nearly year long battle with cancer on April 28, 2025 at his home in Alamo, Texas. Marvin was born on March 26, 1946 in Mountain View, Missouri, as a baby, his mother brought him to Barron, to be near her sister, where he was raised. Marvin attended schools in Barron, played some sports and played the trumpet in band. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Navy and headed to Great Lakes for Boot Camp. During the course of his 25 year Navy Career as the Ships Navigator, (QM), Marvin served on 7 different ships and spent 14 months in the country of Vietnam. As he often said, I have been around the world 3 times and spoke to everyone twice. He lived in in San Diego for 33 years. After retiring from the Navy, he earned a degree in Finance and Business and served as a contracting officer for the DRMO and a logistics analyst for SAIC in Washington, DC. After retiring, he returned to Barron to do some fishing, hunting and play some golf. He was married to Mary Eileen Morse, they had 3 girls, Corrine, Belinda and Catherine. They were divorced. He met his wife Cindy on the Golf course in Barron. They were married on May 4, 2013. They enjoyed bowling, golfing and traveling around the country. They spent the last 10 winters in Alamo. Marvin's biggest passion was fishing on the Yellow River in Barron. Growing up fishing that river using an old row boat that Doc Strang always let him use. Marvin is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughters, Cori-Lyn (Wm Porter), Belinda Foreman and Catherine Koch (George); step-daughters, Karen Sohn (Kevin) and Susan Conaway (Todd); combined, 15 grandchildren and 18 + great-grandchildren; as well as many cousins and many very good friends. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Betty (Yardley) Thomas, Jack Yardley; and his 2nd wife, Dorothy McDonald. A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW in Barron on Sunday, May 18 from noon until 3:00 p.m. Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron is handling local funeral arrangements.
