Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mary Louise Allgood Johnson of Battle Creek, MI, passed away quietly in her sleep on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the tender age of 75. She was born on September 26, 1949 in Battle Creek, MI, one of four daughters to Ralph and Ruby Ellis.
Mary attended Battle Creek Central High School and was a long-time employee at the Hart-Dole-Inouye Federal Center, working as a Computer Security Assistant, supporting the US DoD. Late in life, Mary met and married, Waldemar "Wally" Johnson, and the couple doted on each other until his passing in 2007.
Mary is survived by her son, Jason (Kristi) Allgood; granddaughter, Charlotte Allgood; and sisters, Janet Whitmore, Patricia Teachout, and Beverly Ellis. She is also survived by Wally's children, whom she loved as her own, Loretta Shellhamer, Gregory (Stephanie) Johnson, Gerald Johnson, Melonie Smith; grandchildren, Chris Pyle, Lynn Prince, Sophie Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Courtney Shellnut, Corey Johnson, Christopher (Amielle) Smith, Angela (Jay) Neal; and great grandchildren, CJ Pyle, Fawn Prince, Heaven Shellnut, Tristen Shellnut, Kris Shellnut, Keaven Shellnut, Olivia Shellnut, Landen Johnson, Carter Johnson, Braxton Johnson, Samuel Smith, Lucas Neal, Niko Neal, Atticus Neal, Killion Neal, Khobe Neal, Ziora Neal.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Waldemar Johnson.
One of Mary's fondest memories was living in Germany and getting to visit Paris and London. She loved spending time with her granddaughter, Charlotte doing arts and crafts, makeup, and making memories that she forever cherished. Mary also loved spoiling the family dogs, Coco and Diesel.
Visitation will be held at the Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The National Breast Cancer Foundation in honor of Mary being a breast cancer survivor herself.
