Monticello - Mary Catharine Allman, 79, of Monticello passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026, at home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Joseph F. Allman Jr. (1996); mother, Mary Bridget Allman (2019); and brother, James P. Allman (2021).
She is survived by her sisters, Bridget A. Dederick of Bethesda, Md., and Margaret R. Fifield of Manvel, Texas; nieces, Melea H. Allman of Monticello and Katharine R. Foos of Springfield, Va.; nephews, Thomas A. Dederick of New York, N.Y., Joseph M. Dederick of Westhampton, N.Y., and Sean C. Fifield of Burbank, Calif.; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mary Kay spent her formative years in Monticello, attending grade school and high school, and then graduated college from St. Mary of the Woods in Terra Haute, In. After graduation, she served as a social worker in the Department of Child and Family Services for the state of Michigan, in Pontiac.
After retirement, she worked as a coordinator at St. Perpetua Catholic Church in Waterford, Mich., for a number of years.
In 2008, she moved back to Monticello to care for her mother, which was greatly appreciated by her family. She later moved to Tatman Village, where she unexpectedly passed away. Her family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Tatman Village for their attention and kindness.
Mary Kay was a devoted member of St. Philomena Catholic Church since 2008.
A Memorial Mass will be scheduled, at a date to be announced, later in the spring.
