Mary Madeline, 84 years old, passed away in God's Loving Hands, on Friday October 10, 2025.
She was the first of five girls, born to Buck and Pearl Coslett on, Friday, May 9, 1941, at 5:35pm in Palestine, TX. Mary went to school in Madelle, TX. Her senior year, there were twelve in her class, six boys and six girls. She won State Championship her Junior year in Basketball.
Married Wayne Steadman on November 8, 1958, at her parents' home in Palestine, TX, at the age of 17 years old. She was Homecoming Queen her Senior year (1958/1959) and was escorted by her husband, Wayne.
Mary owned, "Madeline's Tea Room, in Palestine, TX for seven years. She loved to cook and have get together's with family and friends. She always said, her tearoom wasn't work, it was her playhouse. Her other passion was working in her yard and flower beds, as well as fishing. She was an adored Grandmother who loved playing Sorry, Skipbo, Uno, Checkers and Dominoes with all her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She received the Holy Ghost in 1965, and was baptized at Wolf Lake in Palestine, TX, by her pastor, Rev Trump. Mary married George Alvarado on May 28, 1977, in LaPorte, TX by Rev Thomas.
As Sister Shiflet is Mary's oldest and longest friend, we thank Brother & Sister Shiflet for their steadfast leadership, consistent guidance and support during difficult times. Your leadership has made a lasting difference in our lives, and we thank you both for always being there for our family through seasons of joy and sorrow.
Our Mother, was always so strong and fought her cancer battle, with such "grace."
Mary would say, "Don't Cry for Me . . . " I've gone to have Tea with Jesus.
Her loving children; Debi, Dennis, Becky, David, and Dwayne will cherish every memory of her forever.
She had many dear and special friends, and will be greatly missed an forever remembered.
Mary is proceeded in death by her parents, Wiley O'Neal Coslett (Buck) and Pearl Fletcher Coslett; two sisters, Fay Rea and Sadie Murray; her youngest son, Darion Steadman; two grandsons, Jacob Richard and Mark Jernigan.
