Mary Alvarez

Mary Louisa Alvarez, lovingly known as Mary or Mary Lou, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 84 in Lemoore, California. She was born on April 6, 1941, in Santa Maria, California, to Frances Gonzales and Refugio Acuña. Mary Louisa grew up in Arvin, California, and attended Arvin School through the sixth grade. She left school early to help raise her younger siblings so her parents could work in the fields. Mary Louisa worked as a field laborer before becoming a devoted homemaker. On August 3, 1960, she married Joseph Alvarez, and together they built a family of eight children. She was known for her strength, selflessness, and deep love for her family. Her home was always a place of comfort, tradition, and love. She is preceded in death by: her son, Joseph Alvarez, her daughter, Esperanza Alvarez, and her late husband, Joseph (Jose) Alvarez. She is survived by her children: Maria Alvarez; Mary Lou Alvarez; Guadalupe Alvarez; Francisco Alvarez (and wife Melissa);Juan Alvarez and Louis Alvarez. Her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren including: Leonard Castaneda (wife Sara Castaneda);Patrick Castaneda (wife Melissa Castaneda) and their daughters, Neriah and Serena Castaneda; Michele Wallace (husband Mason Wallace); Albert Rivera; Cherry Saucedo, Angel Bermudez, Candace Hernandez-Koenig, (husband Scott) Christy Hernandez, Joseph Jacqueline Howard (husband Daren Howard) and great-grandson Holden; Jessica Cirilo (wife Melissa Cirilo);Fernando, Joseph; Elisiah Ramirez, Jonathan and Alex Alvarez; Selena Parks, Gabriel Guijarro, David Acosta II, Andrea Acosta; Kimberling and Adelina Hix; Alyssa, Fernando; Christian Angelino, Jeremiah and Joe Hix; Mercedes, Matthew, and Robert Candelaria, Angel and Aaliyah Shaw, Axl Austin; Francisco Alvarez Jr., Wyatt Alvarez; Francisco Alvarez III;, Ariel Alvarez; Penelope; Javier Alvarez and Erica Alvarez.
